Szymon Szewczyk - 35th pick, 2003
In the twilight of his career, back in Poland, probably never to leave again.

Szymon Szewczyk (35th pick, 2003)
- Shevcheck joined the Bucks for summer league as recently as 2009, six years after his selection, a time in which teams have normally given up waiting (and wanting). They did this because the Shevster continues to play a good calibre of basketball. In the Italian Serie A, playing for Air Avellino, Shev averages 29 minutes, 13.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 0.9 blocks, 3.0 turnovers and 3.1 fouls per game, shooting 53% from the field, 31% from three, and 76% from the line.
Szewczyk was drafted high, picked over many players in the 2003 second round who have gone on to have lengthy NBA careers, and he's certainly no prospect any more. He turns 29 later this year, and all that beautiful bleached blonde hair has long since fallen out. He has proven himself to be a good quality all-around player, a miniature Bostjan Nachbar-type. But not an NBA one.
Chances of making the NBA expressed as an arbitrary percentage: 2%

In Italy, Bucks draft pick Szymon Szewczyk signed a two year extension with Air Avellino. He ranked second the team in rebounds last year behind Chevon Troutman, was second in points behind Dee Brown, and also managed not to get arrested in a drunken car wreck unlike the other two. Another NBA draft pick signed in Italy, Petteri Koponen, is to remain in Bologna for at least one more season. And ex-NBA player Jumaine Jones is staying with Pepsi Caserta for at least one more season, which really crippled this otherwise infallible post.

Bucks draft pick Shevcheck is signed with Air Avellino in Italy. Air Avellino have made the news for other reasons this week, but Shev has helped to keep the boat steady. He is averaging 11.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 27 minutes per game; in Avellino's absolutely must-win game last night versus Angellico Biella, Shevcheck played 41 out of 45 minutes, and totalled 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks to ensure victory.
Szymon Szewczyk was born in Szczecin. This prompts the question; how much is the Z worth in the Polish version of Scrabble?
