Jared Reiner - Reiner works in medical sales for the same company as the aforementioned Recker and Haluska. You can guess where he went to college.
July 30, 2010
Jared Reiner - 28 year old Reiner is working on a streak of seven consecutive training camp contracts. He is much the same player as he was when he played with us back in 2004-05, although Reiner started to develop a three point jumpshot last season, hitting sixteen of them in 8 games in the Puerto Rican SN (making four), and somehow managing to attempt only 3 free throws to 107 total field goals. He had not hit a single three pointer in his entire collegiate and professional careers combined, over a span of ten years. It would be a stretch, though, to say that he's now got a three point stroke.

Jared Reiner
Reiner was covered in the Pistons summer league roster round-up. In two games for Detroit, he recorded 0 points, 1 rebound and 7 fouls.

Jared Reiner - 8 games, 36.0 mpg, 12.4 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 1.4 apg, 3.3 fpg, 0.5 spg, 0.8 bpg, 435 FG, 25% 3PT, 100% FT
Isabella doesn't take it lying down, though, and another CBA veteran (LaSalle forward Reggie Okosa) and another NBA training camper (Jared Reiner) were quickly brought into her fold. (Giggidies all round.) The duo played the last seven games of the regular season, putting up the solid but unspectacular numbers outlined above - the only thing of note was that Reiner, who had not hit a single three pointer in either his college or professional career (a span of 10 years and several hundred games) suddenly started to reform himself into a three point shooter. He attempted sixteen of them in 8 games, making four, and somehow managed to attempt only 3 free throws to 107 total field goals. Maybe the now-28 year old Reiner has begun to subscribe to the Paul Shirley school of thought, whereby he'll only continue the slog of professional basketball if he can do what's fun for him, i.e. jumpshots. I'm not sure that it's helping him in the short term.

- Jared Reiner
In five of the last six years, Iowa centre Jared Reiner has appeared in an NBA training camp. In 2004 it was the Bulls; in 2005 it was both the Clippers and the Suns; in 2006 it was the Spurs; in 2008 it was the Sixers; in 2009, it was the Timberwolves. In that time, Reiner has only played in 46 NBA games, 27 of which came with the Bucks down the stretch of the 2006/07 season (whom, you'll notice, he never went to camp with). But that's no reason to stop trying, and, seemingly unable to get a tasty European deal, Reiner opted for the NBA exposure offered up by the D-League. In 17 games for the Fort Wayne Made Ants, Reiner averaged 29.7 minutes, 13.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game; however, he asked the team to release him at the beginning of March for "personal reasons" and did not play again.

The D-League has bagged itself some more former NBA talent.

If things go well, he could make it six of seven.
