Ricky Davis - Davis is attempting a second comeback via the D-League in the unlikely role of heady veteran. Picked in the sixth round of the draft by the Erie BayHawks, Davis is thus far averaging 14.6 points and 5.4 rebounds on 41% three point shooting. So if nothing else, he is the steal of the D-League draft.

Ricky Davis — Buckets is trying to make a comeback, electing for the increasingly popular comeback root of the D-League. Before being cut this weekend, he was averaging 8.5 points per game as a jumpshooting specialist without true three point range. The rest of his game is the same.

Ricky "Buckets" Davis - 9 games, 30.3 mpg, 13.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.3 spg, 0.1 bpg, 1.6 TOpg, 41% FG, 32% 3PT, 86% FT
Jiangsu opened the season with the two former Celtics, Davis and Moiso. Davis was playing in only the second non-NBA gig of his career; after being cut by the Clippers midway through last season, Davis saw out that season in Turkey with Turk Telekom, then made the rather predictable move to China this summer. Meanwhile, the enigmatic Moiso worked through a tumultuous season last year with Bilbao, being his usual inconsistent self and facing the axe on more than one occasion, before eventually seeing through the whole season. (Just.) His combination of height and athleticism, only ever found in China amongst the imports, sees him pull in the impressive return of more than 1 rebound every 3 minutes. As we'll see later, however, it's good for only 9th in the league.
Davis arrived in China stating his intentions to win the championship, the MVP, and the scoring title. He did none of the three, and was released after 9 underwhelming games. In his short time with the team, he also complained about his role on the team and his supposed lack of touches, and moaned about his team mates, as did they about him. The China Buckets Experience did not go well. [Davis has since joined French team Roanne, who were league leaders upon his arrival. He scored 11 points on debut, then went scoreless over 47 minutes in his next two games, followed by back to back 12 point performances. Roanne are now fifth.]

Ricky Davis - Davis is still going, despite long since departing the NBA. He signed in China to begin this season, proudly announcing his intention so win the championship, the MVP award, and the scoring title. But in reality, he was one of the least effective imports of all. Davis averaged 13.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 30 minutes per game, scoring 118 points on 112 shots; they're solid numbers, but they pale in comparison to what Chinese import numbers are normally like, and they certainly weren't what Jiangsu were paying big money for. Davis was released last week and replaced by Antoine Wright. After three mediocre years, Buckets looks done.

[...] After Telekom were knocked out of the Eurocup, Turkish international shooting guard Serkan Erdogan left the team to go and play for Meridiano Alicante in Spain, Turk Telekom replaced him with Ricky Davis, who has averaged 13.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.2 steals pin 5 games. Had he played enough to qualify, those numbers would make him 1st in the league in steals, and tied for 4th in assists. Neither is something you would normally associate with Ricky Buckets.
