Sergiy Gladyr - 49th pick, 2009
Shot 41.0% from three this year, yet it is still all he does. Shooting is always good, but he’s no better than Brady Heslip, Matt Williams, Jeff Ledbetter, Kyle Kuric, Taylor Braun, Terry Henderson….etc etc.

Sergiy Gladyr - 49th pick, 2009
Drafted as a shooter, but has never developed into an NBA calibre one, and, turning 29 by the start of next season, surely never now will.

Sergiy Gladyr (49th pick, 2009)
- Gladyr was drafted as a shooter, but hasn't shot the ball especially well over the last two seasons. Playing rotation minutes for Manresa in Spain's ACB - which is no mean feat for one so young - Gladyr shot only 34% from three point range last season, not helped by missing time late in the season after breaking his shooting hand by punching an advertising hoarding. This season, the shooting numbers are not much better; Gladyr is shooting only 35% from three while taking five threes a game, and also shooting only 39% from two point range. He averages 8.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 fouls per game on the season, playing 20.4 minutes per contest. Gladyr makes fewer mistakes now, and has made slight improvements as a player, but if he's going to make it as a shooter, then he's going to have to shoot better.
Chances of making the NBA expressed as an arbitrary percentage: 10%

Sergiy Gladyr
Gladyr was the Hawks second round pick in 2009, a Ukrainian shooting specialist. After being drafted, Gladyr went to Spain, where he became one of the youngest rotation players in the ACB (a league known for not playing youngsters much). Gladyr was pretty inconsistent throughout the year, as you might expect, and didn't have great overall numbers. Playing for Suzuki Manresa, he was third on the team in scoring with a 10.0ppg average and 2.1 rebounds per game, but also recording 3.6 fouls per game and no other significant statistics. For a shooter, he did not shoot too well, hitting only 34% from three point range. And given that he attempted 170 three pointers compared to only 59 two pointers, that's not ideal. It was not an ideal first season in Spain for Gladyr; that said, given the context of it being from a 20 year old in the ACB, it was pretty good.
Also of note was the fact that Gladyr missed six weeks between mid-February and late March due to injury. Gladyr broke his hand punching an advertising hoarding while being subbed out of the game. Whoops.

In the previous post I talked about Hawks draft pick Sergiy Gladyr, but did so while omitting a potentially interesting/amusing piece of information. Gladyr has not played since Valentine's Day, when he left a game against Meridiano after only 9 minutes with an injury and never returned. The injury is a broken hand, one which Gladyr suffered by punching an advertising hoarding. Maybe he was feeling a little unloved that day. I feel your pain brother.

- Sergiy Gladyr
After being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks this summer, Gladyr left the Ukraine for the first time and moved to the ACB to play with Suzuki Manresa (formerly known as Ricoh Manresa). Manresa have an 11-13 record on the season, yet they're comfortably in the middle of the table, currently placing 10th out of 18 ACB teams. Gladyr is third on the team in scoring with a 9.9ppg average, alongside 2.1 rebounds, 3.6 fouls and no other significant statistics per game. For a shooter, though, he's not shooting too well, shooting only 32% from three point range. And given that he has attempted 135 three pointers compared to only 35 two points, that's not ideal. It is not an ideal first season in Spain for Gladyr; that said, for a 20 year old in the ACB, it's pretty good. Young players don't normally play much there.
